It was a very exciting day for us on February 23. We had an appointment with Dr. Green, and were thrilled when she pulled out the doppler. We had seen the heart flickering during our ultrasound, but to hear the thump, thump, thumping was incredible. We will grow to love that sound. It was a strong 170 beats per minute!
Dr. Green said the bloodwork results from tests Kate had done a few weeks back looked great. (Kate was even high on iron, which is great considering she is a vegetarian!)
We were told about a local training program that was occurring that week for Nuchal Translucency ultrasounds. This is a new test that screens for Down syndrome, and because it is so new, would typically cost $500+ in BC. (Usually it is a test just done through bloodwork.) Because we were within the window they needed of volunteers (between 11 and 13 weeks) we were asked to participate.
Another chance to see our little one? Like we were going to pass that up!
We went out for dinner that night to celebrate.
